Constitutions Ain't Easy
A lot of people are getting impatient with the Iraqi constitution process. For historical reference, it took the United States of America two tries before we got it right. The first version, The Articles of Confederation weren’t strong enough to hold the fledgling country together.
The Constitution, as we know it today was written almost 10 years after we won our independence. It has been amended 27 times since it was first ratified. The first ten amendments (the Bill of Rights) were added so soon that a lot of people consider them to be part of the original in a way that the other 17 aren’t. The men who wrote it had spent most of their lives contemplating and, for the most part, openly debating the issues of freedom and self-government.
The Iraqis have had mere months to serious consider theirs… give them a little time.

tomcat,
Nicely put! (mr.dcat!) ;)
tomcat,
Thanks for opening up the blog to non-bloggers. I will stay tuned and will share my opinions on your blog.
I have been told by many that I should have a blog but I spend a lot of time in the comment sections (the trenches) duke'n it out with the opinionated point by point. May do that some day and will create my own system, I do a lot of web development so creating a blog instead of using someone elses would be easy.
Til then, looking forward to your perspectives!
I expect this write up to be rejected, which will be a good thing.
People are expecting miricles out of a few sheets of paper. Ain't gonna happen. It won't affect the ongoing battle of Iraq. When the Iraqi's stop fighting, the Iranians and the Syrians and the Saudi's will just pick up the pace. After all, the American Government isn't the only ones that think fighting in Iraq is better then fighting at home.
What the left hasn't figured out yet is that if Casy hadn't died in Iraq, he would have died in Afghanistan. A big part of the reason that the Afghanistan battle is going OK, is Iraq. Just as the only way to slow down the violence in Iraq is by moving the battle to Iran, Syria, and the KSA. The Fact is Islam sees this as a religous war and nothing the US does or says will change that. So the fighting will go on until we surrender or force regime change on ALL 22 Islamic nations.
I say lets go for all 22 Islamic nations. We already started at one place I say finish it! Just like the left always doing things half ass!
