Katrina: “It’s not our fault”

The city and the state of Louisiana were ill prepared for a natural disaster that they had to know was coming sooner or later. Yet, when it did come the first person they blamed was President Bush. He planned the hurricane just so he’d have an excuse to leave Crawford (and the Sheehan crowd) early, you know.

Even when it was crystal clear that Katrina was going make landfall at or near New Orleans, it took urging from the President to get local authorities to order an evacuation. They were not prepared to aid the people who didn’t leave and are now demanding a plan to deal with the disaster. Hint: You’re supposed to plan ahead for this kind of thing.

Help is coming now (much faster than it did for Florida when Hurricane Andrew in 1992). We’ll wait and see who gets the thanks… any bets.

If you look at a disaster manual you will see if a disaster happens be prepared to have enough food and water on hand because it may be days before anyone can reach you!
